Forsyth Medical Center Receives Approval to Build Clemmons Medical Center
Novant Health Press Release
Forsyth Medical Center has received conditional approval today from the State of North Carolina’s Certificate of Need Section to build a $96 million, 50-bed hospital in Clemmons. Clemmons Medical Center will serve residents of western Forsyth and Davie counties, including the more than 71 percent of Clemmons, Lewisville and Advance residents who now choose Forsyth Medical Center and affiliated facilities for their hospital care.

The hospital will be approximately 200,000 square feet and will be located just east of the
Harper Road/Tanglewood interchange of Interstate 40. The project is expected to bring more
than 350 jobs to the western Forsyth and Davie counties.

Clemmons Medical Center will include:

  • 46 acute care beds
  • 4 intensive care beds
  • 5 operating rooms
  • 12-bed emergency department
  • On-site pharmacy, lab and pathology services
  • Full imaging services including routine x-ray, mammography, ultrasound and mobile MRI.

“We are very pleased with the state’s decision to allow us to move forward with our plans to
bring a modern and convenient new hospital to Clemmons,” says Sallye Liner, president of
Forsyth Medical Center. “This will allow us to improve access to inpatient and emergency care
for the more than 71 percent of the residents in Clemmons, Lewisville and Advance who now
choose Forsyth Medical Center and our affiliated facilities for their hospital care, as well as for
all residents in western Forsyth and Davie counties.”

Liner said Clemmons Medical Center will become a valuable asset to the community especially
as the number of older residents in the area increases. She said the next step in the process is to
seek rezoning of the proposed site by the Village of Clemmons.

“We have been working on a site plan that we believe reflects a well planned development that
includes open space, walking paths and landscaping features that create a pleasant village look
and feel,” she said. “We look forward to discussing the site plan with Clemmons residents and
the Village Council in the next few months.”

More information will be posted on the new hospital’s web site ClemmonsMedicalCenter.org as
it becomes available.
